Gambesons, Robes and a Brown Steampunk Coat: Recent Commissions

It's been a while since the last post and it seems rather anticlimactic to begin with a post of things on hangers. Especially as almost nothing ever looks good on hangers. But there you go. Here are photos of many costumes on hangers.

Ever since the Steampunk Coat first appeared on a hanger at the Unconventional Market, I've been asked if it came in brown. After some confusion over the colour correction on the professionally done photos, I received an order for the coat in black and brown. Some explanation and an order later, the black and brown Steampunk Coat came into existence. It shares the same red-and-gold trim as the red coats and has brass fittings.

More photos of recent commissions under the cut.

Coats and Robes:

The gambesons all have sleeves, but they look even messier with the sleeves laced on so they were left off these photos.

  1. ...is that a pink gambeson at the bottom there?

Your reimagining of gender roles intrigues me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

  2. I agree with The Elder on the note of the pink Gambeson.

  3. Unfortunately, it's brown edged in purple (the first photo is it in a more sensible light). Though the Proprietor's ever favourite Lilac Gambeson has been surprisingly popular (there are some brilliant photos of him sniffing flowers whilst wearing it).

  4. PICS PLZ

(I miss the Constantines- it sounds like something that would have suited Justin)

I still think pink gambesons would be amusing, though. Not sure if I'd wear one myself, and obviously it wouldn't fit every setting, but seeing someone get beaten up by a person in a pink gambeson (with optional floral sword) would be pretty sweet :)

  5. Ah, I've now found the photo at http://costumemercenary.blogspot.com/2010/08/outtakes-many-less-than-dignified.html -is that the one you meant?

  6. How much would it cost to have another black and brown Steampunk coat made? Probably the same as the others? Not to sound silly, but translated to U.S. currency, what's the price?

  7. Exactly the same as the others, but production times would be more awkward and I've not been having exactly the best of luck with the US post of late. We do other custom colours as well, the main limitation being finding appropriate trim. Google thinks its USD278 at the moment, but it will depend on the exchange rate at the time of purchase.
